CAF Confed Cup: Rangers take case to CAS
By Tony Edike, Enugu THE management of Rangers International football club of Enugu said yesterday that it has concluded plans to take its disqualification from this year’s CAF Confederation cup to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Switzerland. Reports had indicated that CAF Appeals committee threw out the appeal filed by Rangers for lack of merit. Speaking with Journalists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe sports stadium Enugu, yesterday, Chairman of Enugu State Football Association , Chidi Ofo Okenwa, said, “We are going to appeal our elimination by CAF at CAS. “ This is miscarriage of justice. There is no way we are going to rest until we are justifiably heard. “I describe this as a comic tragedy by CAF in the whole issue of eliminating Rangers from the Confederation cup hence our resolve to seek redress in the Court of Arbitration for Sports,” the F.A boss said. Ofo, who is also board member of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, insisted that CAF was unfair to the Enugu club side. ...
